Upvest is a technology company and securities institution that offers banks, brokers, and asset managers modern infrastructure for securities trading via its API platform. In addition to software, it also handles trading, custody, and back-office services for its clients. This enables financial institutions to comprehensively and cost-effectively modernise their securities business and grow profitably. Upvest's clients include rapidly growing fintechs such as Revolut, N26, bunq, Webull, and Raisin, as well as digital banks such as Santander’s Openbank and DKB.
Upvest was founded in 2017, has 280 employees, and processes over 100 million trades annually. The company continues to be independently managed by its founders Martin Kassing, Dr. Til Rochow, and Tobias Auferoth and is financially secure for the future thanks to investors such as Earlybird, Bessemer Venture Partners and Notion Capital.
Founder Q&A
Martin began his career in private equity at Avedon Capital Partners. He worked 5 years as a manager at the firm investing in 5+ leading software and engineering companies across Europe. The private equity fund successfully raised EUR 300m+ and was partially sold to Goldman Sachs.
Still in his mid twenties, he faded out the private equity career path to start his own ventures. As a COO he led the fintech ShopCo, a browser extension to checkout on any website with just one click. The business expanded from Germany to the US to disrupt how individuals buy products online. ShopCo was acquired by Klarna.
In 2017 Martin returned to his hometown Berlin and joined Finleap as CPO in Berlin. Quite quickly he figured out blockchain will disrupt financial markets. End of 2017 Upvest was born.
Having worked in financial services for almost 15 years, Til is now looking forward to democratizing finance and improving everyone’s ability to save and invest.

Tobias Auferoth is Co-Founder and Managing Director at the Berlin-based Series C fintech Upvest - pioneering a European Investment API used by clients such as Revolut, N26 and Raisin to offer securities to their end users. Backed among others by Hedosophia, Notion Capital, Earlybird, HV Capital and BlackRock, Upvest currently employs more than 220 people and holds investment firm licenses in both the UK and Germany.
With a background in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and UBS, Tobias co-founded several ventures such as Savedo before joining Upvest in 2018. A graduate of WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, he has 18 years of experience in finance and fintech.
